When Tony Franklin from Sound Advice was first approached to design and supply a PA for Fat Eddie’s, one of the new bars on the strip, the brief was for a system that would be used for Jazz Bands. However, it didn’t take long before the owners expanded the brief and the system had to handle full on rock and roll bands.

An FBT system was chosen for it’s ability to pack a punch and sound great. The main PA consists of 4 x PromaxX14a self powered cabinets, featuring custom B&C drivers which are used to cover the main dance floor. These speakers are extremely loud with a max SPL of over 135dB. Featuring extended frequency response, on board DSP and protection it was the ideal choice. To match all that top end SPL, two of the Subline 2 x 18″ self powered subs were used to give some chest thumping kick. The subs also use custom B&C drivers and a 1200w class D power amp to hit a max SPL of 140dB.

To cover the rest of the bar, 4 of the X-Lite10A self powered speakers were used, mounted onto the cable tray.

Stage monitoring is handled by 2 x  X-Lite12a, 12″ two way speakers and a Mitus215A dual 15″ plus horn speaker is used for drum fill. It’s very loud!

A Bosch Plena Matrix PLM-8M8 handles the zoning and speaker processing duties and finally a PLE-1MA060 driving the stairwell speakers to round out the system.

The system is very well utilised with a mix of live bands nearly every night. FBT offers a compact yet extremely loud and clear solution for the coolest bar on the strip!

    • Whistling Sisters – Wellington

By pav | Comments are Closed

Whistling Sisters is one of the most interesting bars around Wellington. Situated in the centre of town, this Craft Beer Brewery has an amazing range of beers and ciders brewed on site. Their sound system is based around an Akai reel-to-reel tape machine as the main audio source, which is placed in prime position in the bar. The brief was for a stereo hi-fi style system so designed using a number of FBT Project660 6.5″/1″wall speakers, complemented by CLA208SA dual 8″ subwoofers to extend the low frequencies. The results matched the high end brews they serve up everyday!

    • H&M – Wellington

By pav | Comments are Closed

The new H&M store in Wellington is a very welcome addition as the brand grows across New Zealand. Featuring a big and bright store concept with a focus on sound as an important part of the ambience. The H&M brand is unique as it calls for a much better sound system specification than traditional stores. Using a two way 6.5″ ceiling speaker with additional 10″ ceiling subs, the sound system is more Front of House than the usual muted BGM systems. Provision Technologies were tasked with the installation of the sound system and the end result was fantastic…
